MaNGOS Quest Creator Support Added - « on: 01/10/10, 02:17:40 AM »

Thanks to one dedicated MaNGOS user (truekush) we are able to finally add MaNGOS (the latest database structure) quest support!

Like other cores, the MaNGOS batch does not utilize all the creator functionality (moreso than the other cores):

- No "Repeatable?" field
- No "Reward: Honor" field
- No "Reward: Talents" field
- No "Reward: Faction Rep #6" field
- No "Reward: Rep Limit" field
- No "Req. Completed Quests #2-4" fields (the #1 field does work, however)
- No "Allowable Class" field
- No "Money at Max Level" field (we utilize the field, but it appears to only award XP)
- "Sort" options don't work (only ZoneIDs do)

Now, we realize through truekush's generous testing that the MaNGOS-unique field called `ZoneOrSort` may somewhat support ZoneIDs, Sort, _and_ Required Class values all in one. HOWEVER, because of the overlapping values the three have, it is not possible for us to properly support anything but the ZoneID.

You can obviously edit the query manually if you know how to get them to work, but we will NOT be supporting Sort values or Required Class values for the MaNGOS batch because of this issue, since it would cause major confusion for our ArcEmu, Aspire, and Ascent users.

Thank you truekush for your testing, data, and question answering. This wouldn't have been possible without you!

Nice one SB! I think if more mangos users provide more dataz for mangos more creators will be available for it.
My personal Catch Phrase: This will end in tears.

Donator
IMO he deserves Donator status atleast, he did something no one ever bothered to attempt, he did a good job at it as well. But that's not my decision, only my opinion.

Exactly. Yet it appears the beat dog continues to come crawling back for more. Guess I'll have to start wearing steel toed boots, if you get my drift Nightbane.

NB: Rule of thumb, if anything you have to say is going to end in "But that's just my opinion" or "But it's not my choice" or anything similar, just go right on past the thread because I'm getting to my wits end with having to constantly tell you things you should already know.

I do it to show a sign of some respect that I was listening instead of seeming as if I completley ignore what he said and repeeat the mistake. I'm done.

Your attempt to show respect to truekush ends up appearing as a (barely) passive attempt at undermining my authority, hence my irritation with it. No member (aside from staff, and even then only in private) have any right to even suggest that someone be given a status upgrade or any other kind of reward... much like our stance on members "suggesting" who we should suspend or promote.

While that may not make sense to you (or anyone reading), and while my response to it may seem extreme, this is how I operate and, more importantly, it should have been quite obvious in my past years of posts and interactions that it would be so in this specific circumstance. Your length of time here is your biggest fault in this as I expect much more from veteran members. That in itself is my biggest tip: the longer you're here, the more it would be in your best interest to mold your interactions to meet my ways as I am much less lenient in these issues the lower your author ID is. Of course, I won't always be here, so maybe the silver lining here is that it isn't going to be an issue in the future.

I am grateful to truekush, but what he (my assumption, pardons if it should be "she") supplied is the standard and *expected* of any community member that has any desire for WoW-V support. To reward what is expected is to insult those that contributed much more to gain their status. I am not trying to downplay truekush's contribution (as they were quite generous and the MaNGOS community should be very appreciative), but in the scope of things, it is "the norm". It's only perceived as not being so because of the MaNGOS community's minuscule contributions over the past few years to WoW-V and, subsequently, WoW-V's attitude towards the MaNGOS core.

From my point of view, my mistake was in publicizing rewards for the SpellID project. This seems to have given some in the community the idea that I will reward any contribution and that it is okay to suggest that I do so. Let me be clear that the SpellID project's rewards were a ONE TIME thing. It was a moment of desperation and I should not have handed out upgrades as liberally as I did. I made a judgment call to award practically everyone that participated to avoid a massive flaming session, and that may not have been wise in retrospect.

However, what is done is done. It's the present and the future that I care about, so just digest what I said and hopefully the latter can be brighter.

i agree. i didn't do this to be rewarded with higher rank or anything i did this for the 20-40 mangos users creating posts on almost every site asking is there a way to make a mangos quest without manually editing a db.
and NB thanks for trying to get me higher rank but truly it isnt needed i want to earn my rank fairly.

to summarize that wall:
His decisions may not seem fair to everyone, but it's his own choice.
Any opinions regarding the status of a member, should be kept private--it does not concern you.
The lower the account id, the tighter the leash--meaning: veterans, dont fuck up.
truekush's contribution was a very generous one, he's not putting that down.

thats all you really need to know...everything else shouldnt be repeated (out of respect) or it does not need to be discussed (out of fear for my own arse.)

Fully understood, SickBoy. By the way a correction, I wasn't trying to show a sign of respect to Trukish, I was trying to show a sign of respect to the moderators (maybe I read your sentance wrong) that I dont just recieve punishment and move on, I recieve punishment and acknowledge the time they put in of actually BOTHERING to reply instead of making the judgement of say, ban for an hour (just an example.)

However, I am only making an argument with you and I do not wish to participate in a fight and lower my reputation further. I only wish to take the judgement of the moderators maturely by showing respect as to their decision. I will now leave the thread.

(Truekish replied, so heres my other response)

I didn't request you raise in rank, but merely in status of contribution. However such as stated by SickBoy after the Spell ID incident I believed that a status such as Donator or Sponsor would of been in order.

It may of seemed like you only did a few queries, but I have read the previous threads locked by SickBoy or other mods because they did not supply the right submissions of they were completley stupid and had no idea what they were doing. You on the other hand negotiated with SickBoy and made a clear breakthrough the ManGOS "issue".

Sponor and Donor's aren't considered "Ranks" they are like, higher statuses, I gained my Donator status by contributing to the site, however, I believe if its required I loose the status if its neccesary.

NOW, I will leave the thread.

(God damnit SnC)

Do know you too, are a veteran as well SnC. So don't just direct it at us, direct it at yourself aswell.

(Now, Im done.)
