| In Need of Donations |
|
We're nearing the end of the month (August 2010) and we haven't yet met 1/2 of the server costs in donations. I unfortunately do not have the means to support WoW-V financially on my own anymore, so if we can't at least get close to meeting the goal each month, WoW-V will have to be shut down until I have the stable flow of income to revive it (which could be a very long time).
If you can help, and would like to support the ongoing development of these kick ass tools, please do as it would be a shame to close WoW-V after all this time just because of money issues. Check out our Donate page (linked in the top navigation) to contribute and to see the benefits you get for becoming a donor or sponsor (remember: sponsors get prime advertising spots on WoW-V!), and feel free to ask any donation-related questions in this post.
Huge thanks to all of our previous donors for keeping WoW-V alive this long. You guys & gals rock my socks!

| DisplayID (etc) Finder Tools Fixed |
|
Member AngelSandy has reported a bug that has been around for quite some time, but without me realizing it. Turns out our various DisplayID/SetID/etc. Finder Tools had some flawed logic in their searches of (we were too strict with it), leaving valid results out and making the automatic extraction attempt from Wowhead sometimes return duplicate errors because the item should have been found within our own database.
This has been fixed for ALL the different ID finding tools, both in v3 and v4 versions of the site. Enjoy, and thanks again to AngelSandy for reporting it.
We've also changed how item DisplayID Finder Tool (in both v3 and v4) displays results slightly. The Wowhead image that used to be on the right of each entry, which allowed for hovering to see the Wowhead tooltip, has been removed since that image of theirs no longer exists. Instead the name of the item itself is what you can hover over to get the icon+tooltip.
And speaking of broken images... the broken ad at the top of the v3 tools has been removed completely. More screen space, no more ad, no more ugly ass broken image, woo!

| MaNGOS Query Updates & v4! |
|
The Mob/NPC Creator (on both the current and beta versions of the site) has been updated to support the newer MaNGOS revisions. This was a matter of changing the names of the displayID-related columns, so older revisions of MaNGOS will not be usable anymore without manual edits to the batch.
In other news, the beta version of the site (v4) has received an exclusive update (I won't be coding new features for v3 anymore, so as to expedite the release of v4) to its Mob/NPC Creator in general. It now supports all factions by way of our incredible new tool: the Faction ID Finder/Comparison Tool, meaning you can pick exactly which faction you want to align your NPCs with instead of just choosing from "Neutral", "Friendly", and "Hostile" (there are over 800 different factions to choose from!).
The mob stats "preview" has also been updated to show the name of the faction you chose, and it will display an error if you used an invalid faction (we now use a DBC extract for it, so they are 100% complete and accurate)
The aforementioned Faction ID Finder/Comparison Tool is another bag of kickassery worth announcing on its own! This is a tool that lets you compare up to 7 different factions and see exactly how they see one another in terms of hostility. We're using the same logic that the core uses, along with DBC extracts, so it's a wonderfully informative, accurate, and complete resource for all your faction needs! If you want to make PVE vs PVE content, this will help you out immensely when trying to make two or more mobs fight one another. It's also useful just in understanding the fine details of the relationships between your NPCs and factions.
